My favourite 9-ingredient Vanilla Granola, which is quick to make, crunchy, healthy, and delicious. It’s packed full of fiber, protein, and healthy fats.
Granola has always been a stable in my family’s kitchen. My father and brother have been eating it for breakfast almost daily ever since I can remember.
Up until four years ago, I wasn’t a fan though. I didn’t like the texture and honestly didn’t understand the fuss. Now I’m in love.
So what changed? I tried making my own.
Why I decided to make my own granola considering I wasn’t a fan, I’m not sure. But I did, and that’s all that matters. My love for granola has only grown ever since.
Over the years I’ve tried a few different store-bought ones but I always come back to my homemade. It not only has a better flavour, it’s also so much healthier than most of the ones at my local supermarkets.
This granola is simple, requiring only 9 ingredients and 20 minutes to make.
The base is oats, rye flakes, and brown rice puffs, making this granola high in fiber. I also added hemp seeds and sesame seeds for extra crunch and flavour. The seeds also add a healthy dose of protein and fats. So in terms of nutrients, it’s got it all.
The granola is naturally sweetened with maple syrup and coconut sugar and flavoured with vanilla powder. It’s not too sweet but if you have it with a sweet smoothie, bananas or berries, it’s perfect.
Even though this recipe calls for specific flakes and seeds, don’t be afraid to customize it! Use your favourite nuts, seeds, and flakes, or whatever you have on hand. I love the combo of oats, rice puffs, and sesame seeds. Toasted sesame seeds are my fave.
I hope you’ll love this vanilla granola as much as I do. It’s crunchy, perfectly sweet, filling, healthy, and tasty.

This vanilla granola makes a perfect healthy breakfast or snack. Add bananas, fresh berries, and almond milk. Or merely eat it with a spoon straight out of the jar. I totally did that.

- 1 cup oats (90 g)
- 1/2 cup rye flakes (45 g)
- 1 cup brown rice puffs (25 g)
- 1/3 cup hemp seeds (45 g)
- 1/3 cup sesame seeds (40 g)
- 1/8 cup coconut sugar (4 tsp/15 g)
- 1 tsp ground vanilla
- 1/8 cup maple syrup (30 g)
- Pinch of salt
Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius (355 Fahrenheit).
Mix all of the dry ingredients in a bowl. Add the maple syrup and mix again.
Align a baking tray with parchment paper and spread the granola out evenly.
Bake the granola for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Allow cooling completely before serving. This gives the granola time to get crunchy.
Store the granola in an air-tight container.
